Grass and weeds are a problem when I garden. I don't use sprays, which is why they're a problem. I'm a better gatherer than farmer.
After months and months of drought, it started raining and won't stop. No complaints-- but a couple of nights ago we got 3". And that was after 2+" over the previous week. So the grass and weeds in my little garden patch have EXPLODED. I have bermudagrass, crabgrass, amaranth, purslane, Bassia, tumbleweeds, etc. overgrowing my food plants. Yes, I know some of the weeds are also edible, but I can eat them without them being in my garden.
I get on my knees and pull, pull, pull, and gain nothing. I hoe the invaders and they still thrive.
Usually, I eventually give up and root around through the weeds and grass to harvest what I find. Does anyone have better suggestions?
