My prepping strategy has always been to not need things like generators or backup batteries. Partly for simplicity, but also due to expense.
I'm re-thinking that since the Texas blackout. (Even though I was mostly unaffected.)
I'm still not convinced it's necessary, but I can see the advantage.
Probably, rather than a petroleum-fueled generator, I'd be more likely to go for a backup battery with solar charging capabilities. Of course, what I'd love is a Tesla solar roof and a Tesla power wall-- that's probably not going to happen.
What are your thoughts on backup power like this? Do you think it's essential, a luxury, or is it better to structure your preps so it's completely unnecessary?
